Dr Samantha Bobba is a highly regarded cataract surgeon, glaucoma specialist and comprehensive ophthalmologist.
Dr Bobba completed her medical degree with First Class Honours at the University of New South Wales. During this time, she was the recipient of the Scientia Scholarship for academic merit, the First Year Prize and the John Colman Prize for surgical excellence. During residency she was named Junior Medical Officer of the Year. She went on to complete ophthalmology training through the Sydney Eye Hospital training network, serving as the Senior Registrar at Westmead and Bankstown Hospitals, where she gained extensive experience in complex cataracts and all facets of general ophthalmology. She was awarded the Filipic Greer Medal for excellence in Ophthalmic Pathology. She subsequently undertook a comprehensive fellowship in glaucoma at Westmead Hospital, with advanced training in traditional filtration surgery, laser treatments, complex cataracts and the full spectrum of minimally invasive glaucoma procedures.
Dr Bobba is actively involved in research and education, with over 30 peer-reviewed publications and presentations at national and international conferences. In collaboration with other experts in the field, she developed RANZCO’s first position statement on the use of Ocular Stem Cell Therapy in Australia and New Zealand. Dr Bobba holds a Master of Public Health from UNSW and a Master of Medicine in Ophthalmic Science from the University of Sydney. She values building meaningful relationships with her patients and is committed to providing personalised, evidence-based care, with a focus on achieving optimal visual outcomes tailored to each patient’s needs and lifestyle.
Outside of medicine, she enjoys ocean swimming, travel and loves a good book.
