Dr Jessica Xiong is a highly trained and compassionate ophthalmologist with dual fellowship expertise in both medical and surgical retinal diseases.

Dr Xiong is known for her patient-centred approach, surgical precision, and commitment to delivering the highest standard of personalised eye care.

She completed her medical degree at the University of New South Wales and undertook her general medical training at Royal North Shore Hospital. She then completed specialist ophthalmology training through the esteemed Sydney Eye Hospital network. She also holds a Master of Medicine in Ophthalmic Sciences from the University of Sydney, further strengthening her academic and clinical foundation.

Pursuing subspecialty excellence, Dr Xiong undertook a Medical Retina Fellowship at Westmead Hospital under world-renowned retinal expert Professor Paul Mitchell, followed by a prestigious Surgical Retina Fellowship at the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Vancouver, Canada, where she served as Chief Fellow. She holds the DRCPSC (Retina) designation, recognising her completion of accredited subspecialty training in Canada.

Dr Xiong manages a wide range of retinal conditions, including age-related macular degeneration (AMD), diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusion, retinal detachment, myopic maculopathy, and complex vitreoretinal disorders. She is experienced in the use of intravitreal injections and laser therapy to manage medical retinal conditions and slow disease progression. She remains up to date with the latest advances in evidence-based medicine, including emerging treatments for both dry and wet age-related macular degeneration, ensuring her patients receive cutting-edge care tailored to their needs. Dr Xiong also specialises in minimally invasive secondary intraocular lens implantation, offering both sutured and sutureless techniques for patients with dislocated or absent lenses.

In addition to her subspecialty care, Dr Xiong provides comprehensive general ophthalmology services, including complex cataract surgery. She has a particular interest in challenging cases requiring secondary intraocular lenses, restoring vision in patients with previous trauma or surgical complications.

Dr Xiong is a Visiting Medical Officer at Concord Hospital, where she is actively involved in training and mentoring the next generation of ophthalmologists. She also holds an academic appointment as a Clinical Associate Lecturer with the University of Sydney, where she teaches medical students and supervises the development of practical ophthalmology skills.

She is deeply committed to advancing the field through ongoing research, with regular presentations at national and international conferences, publications in leading peer-reviewed journals, and contributions as a reviewer for Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology.

Dr Xiong believes in taking the time to ensure her patients feel informed, empowered, and cared for every step of the way. Fluent in Mandarin and conversational in Cantonese, she warmly welcomes patients from all backgrounds.
